Hike #19: Lost Lake/Petrified Tree (8/5/2012)

Sunday morning before Nicholas and Erin hit the road, we went up to Lamar to see the bison rut.  It was pretty spectacular.  I am just enthralled by the animals and Ilija likes Bison too (which he calls bi-bi and puts horns up on his head with his fingers to signify). They are replacing the Lamar bridge so this is around that construction zone.

After Lamar, we decided to get a short hike in and parked at petrified tree and walked the trail back to Roosevelt Lodge.

The lake, pretty big, but no moose

Family shot.  Ilija is a big help in the pack with his walking stick, he uses it as a prod :)

We were tired and Ilija was not going back in the pack so Erin, Ilija and I sat in the rocking chairs on the Roosevelt Lodge porch and the guys literally ran back over a mountain to get the car and then came and picked us up.  Thanks guys!  Thanks to Nicholas and Erin for another great YNP weekend.
