Hike #9: Narrow Gauge Terrace (7/15/2012)

Sunday morning before the Hecimovic family headed back to their prospective corners of Montana, we made a huge breakfast and headed out for a little Mammoth area walk.  The Narrow Gauge Terrace walk takes you from lower Mammoth behind the terraces up to the Upper Terraces and then back down the Mammoth terrace board walk.  We had been here for a month, but I had not walked the Terraces yet so not only was the walk moments from our door step, but we also got to see another side of the mighty terraces.

Four men and a little lady, or something like that.

Terraces from the back side.  Travertine and sulfur are crazy.

Really cool look at those trees that were just eaten by the travertine.

Steaming hot.

Terraces from the road.  As an engineer, I think it is crazy what they have built roads around in this park.
Serious commitment to the benefit and enjoyment of the people.

As you can tell, if you come to visit we will feed you, but make you carry Ilija.
Happy godfather, Unlce Nicholas and Ilija.
