Hike #11: Tower Falls (7/20/2012)

After our grueling hike at Hellroaring, we headed out the the Tower area of the park.  The tower parking lot was packed, but we found a spot and after taking a lunch break, we took the board walk down to the Tower Falls overview.

Amazing falls.

Everyone was excited to see the falls.  Silly kid, the falls are below you.

Part of the trail is closed due to a wash out a number of years ago, so their is social trail down to the river on the other side.  I am not a supporter of social trails, but I was out voted and this one was pretty cool.

The river cutting through that geology is great.

Ilija and I relaxed by the water's edge for a bit and they boys went exploring.  After Tower we headed back to Mammoth to kick our feet up and eat some dinner.

When they boys got to YNP, I asked if they only got to see or do one thing in the park, what would it be?
Keenin wanted to hike a mountain. Q said he wanted to see a bear.  Ives wanted to see a colorful geyser.

Well, after all the switchbacks coming out of Hellroaring and being about 6500', Keenin was satisfied.  So, a bear was next on the checklist.  Luckily on our drive back from tour, this juvenile black bear obliged and decided to cross in front of our car.  So we stopped and started our own animal jam.
Look at that bear go!
